Seriously

Ladies, I think our blogging has gotten a little too frivolous lately, so I am going to bring up a serious topic for a change: make up. Yes, make up. With the discovery of what I believe is my first age spot (shudder) make up has become an ever increasingly important commodity in my life. So after way too many infomercials (you'd think with cable there'd be no need to ever watch informercials, but you'd be wrong) about Bare Minerals, I went on ebay (this was a first for me) and bought myself a sample kit. I am very anxious for it to arrive so I too can experience the weightless coverage of pure minerals on my face. Make up so pure I can actually sleep in it. Can you imagine?! I will be certain to report back after I find out the results.

Another serious thing to report: I am very excited about the upcoming movie American Dreamz (excited enough to ignore one of my biggest pet peeves IN LIFE: the intentional/unnecessary/ridiculous misspelling of a word FOR NO GOOD PURPOSE- I am desperately hoping the title will be purely ironic). There is very little not to like. My favorite Hugh Grant, whom I particulary admire because of his fabulous morals, starring as a Simon Cowell type snarky judge of a television music competition. You mean I get Hugh and American Idol all at the same time?! Okay so I may be overstating it just a bit but the last time Hugh Grant and this writer/director got together they made About a Boy which is one of my all time faves.

Last serious topic: books. I just finished The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. If you are a book lover it is a fun read. It's a futuristic (but not science fictiony) world where an arch criminal can enter into the world of fiction and muck about with it. The series was recommended to me because Miss Havisham from Great Expectations (one of my all time favorite literary characters ever) is rumored to be a detective in one of the books. I can see her lurching around in her yellowed wedding dress clutching a magnifying glass searching for clues.

More books: I just bought The Great Divorce after seeing Dr. Root talk about it at the Wheaton Club meeting I hosted last week. I'm invited to an old ladies book club (my name not theirs)when we will discuss it. Lastly I also purchased Giada Delaurentis' cookbook Everyday Italian because she is my favorite and I really like eating. Should anyone care, I will report back on both of these at a later date. Knowing me, I'll still probably tell you about it, whether you like it or not.

Sarah, I thought about all the issues that we discussed on the phone the other day and I think I worked them all out. Here are the answers: yes, no, no, March, no, yes.

My mom and I have tried Bare Minerals. I don't think it worked quite as well as the infomericals, but I did like it very much.

Also, wanted to tell you about a book I noticed at work last night. There are a lot of Jane Austen continuations, but I found a book called The Man Who Loved Jane Austen, by Sally Smith O'Rourke. Read the synopsis on Amazon if you get a chance.

The title is certainly intriguing. Don't think I've ever met such a person.
