I Don't Want to Grow Up

More reasons I do not want to grow up:
Warning, if you are the kind of person who keeps encouraging me that we only get better as we age and just to grow old gracefully, you are really annoying, and you won't want to read this:
1. Crow's feet and forhead lines.

2. Adult acne (this one really ticks me off).

3. Gray hair.

4. Boring adult behavior like leaving parties early. Case in point: we had a 60th birthday party for my dad this weekend. It started at 5:30 and people were leaving by 7:10 (and no, it wasn't a lame party!) Now, it might just be WASPy adults who are like this, I'm not sure.

5. The Early Bird Special (I know in college we often ate at 5 p.m., but that was for purely social/survival reasons).

6. Getting up excessively early in the morning. I will never like gettting up early. You hear me, NEVER, but I'm afraid my old person body and mind will wake me up with the sun every day and I will be perpetually grumpy.

Other potential low-points: not thinking anything is funny anymore, being concerned with "regularity", spending more on your perscriptions than on entertainment and just generally being cantankerous for no reason at all.

I heartily agree with all of the above (and could probably add a few), except I admit I do love the Early Bird Specials - when we lived in Florida, the restaurants that had this special were the ones we frequented. Appetizers, drinks, salads, main courses, and desserts for an amount lower than some of their entrees and without all of the extras. It was amazing! I'm salivating thinking of two restaurants right now. One had lobster and the other had a curry mussel appetizer. And the key lime pie. I think I'd like to move back to Florida very very soon.

You should blog on the ways you're avoiding growing up - that could be fun!
