I saw a great editorial in the Tribune yesterday. Here's the link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-dumbledore_thinkoct28,0,5083509.story
The gist of it is that Rowling doesn't have any say about Dumbledore's preference of men over women since she didn't include it in any books. She had her chance, and missed it. The readers get to make their own decision on it.
