Trouble In Paradise

Plans for the Hawai'i trip with my halau have hit a bump in the road. Two of my roommates pulled out of the trip this past Thursday and full payment is due at the end of this week. The whole story is a bit complicated, but if anyone can pull together $1000 by the end of the week, we have two spaces we are trying to fill.

I never expected it but on Sunday my pastor took a few moments to preach against The Da Vinci Code. I was a bit annoyed at first, but he clarified his point to talk about the danger when people read the book as nonfiction, and I agree with that as I've known some people personally that have done this. It's fiction, people!!! Not a true story!!! On top of that, it isn't even Dan Brown's best book. Angels and Demons is way better. So anyway, the only thing that did end up annoying me was that Palm Sunday was not mentioned once. I know that I can't expect a Southern Baptist church to follow the liturgical calendar, but it is one of the disappointing things about my denomination. We don't get palms, we don't do anything for Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, and we don't get to ring bells at Easter Vigil.

Link of the day:
Wheaton College Gospel Choir, audio and video clips, alumni registration, schedule, etc.

Also, I didn't go looking for this, but stumbled across it while reading comments at Lauren Winner's blog. I'm sensing a theme, and it is a bit frustrating. I don't know any girls my age, Christian or not, that are turning down perfectly good marriage proposals for the sake of their careers or for the chance at a few more years of independence and fun.

This has been a rather negative post which I'm going to blame on my headache. I'm off to fill in on my friend's bowling league. Yes, I know, not the best activity while sporting a migraine, but I'm a trooper.

Sars, thanks for the pictures...and text message.

Jo, thanks for the links. I got about a third of the way through the first article, that's about all I could do in one sitting. These days I have no attention span. Anyway, very interesting stuff. Sorry about Hawaii. I agree with all of paragraph 2 (both re: Angels and Demons and Holy Week). Have fun bowling.

That bopundless.org link was the single most depressing thing I've ever read.
