Shattered Dreamz

As faithful readers will know, I was very excited about Hugh Grant's newest movie, American Dreamz. I thought it had great potential, since I have pretty much loved pretty much all his movies. So it was a bad sign that two weeks after coming out it was already at the cheap theater. It's a dubious record, kind of like being last in the marathon or having the most car accidents in your family.

Yes, there's a reason it went almost directly to the cheap theater. In fact, they are lucky it did not go straight to DVD like Mary Kate and Ashley movies and Mulan 2. Not great. It will now join Nine Months and Mickey Blue Eyes in the list of not great Hugh Grant movies. But that is a short list. The good list is much longer: About a Boy, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones' Diary 1 & 2, Love Actually.

But I still hold out hope for Hugh. Two Weeks Notice plays regularly on American Movie Classics. That means it's a CLASSIC. We'll see what else Mr. Grant comes up with, I still have hope.

Kel, you had a feeling this might be the case when you saw the spelling of Dreamz.

Kel, do you remember the interesting thing that we learned about the last person across the finish line at the Chicago marathon? You'll have to think back to breakfast with my small group in Chicago.

Mickey Blue Eyes???? That is one of my favorite movies, in fact, (please don't pass out, Kel) it's one of the few Hugh Grant movies I liked. And I had high hopes for this new one...

Can I comment on my own post? I'm unclear of the protocol.

Jo, there is a funny part in the movie where the contestants sing a super cheesey song obviously written for the show (a la American Idol) and the last line is "Dreamz with a Z." Mandy Moore sings it with proper sincerity and emphasis and I sniggered each time.

I also DO remember the interesting thing we learned about the last person in a marathon- do you think it's a secret and we shouldn't post it? But what if our readers revolt? This is America, people want to know the Truth!

Megan, I am for once at a loss for words. People everywhere, congratulate this woman, finally someone shut me up! (Seriously, are you serious? How can you mean this???? That's like saying Brad Pitt isn't attractive or the sky isn't blue. Hugh Grant is THE chick flick maker. If you're a chick, you love Hugh.)

You absolutely can comment to your own post, as long as other people have first.

I don't know if we should spill the beans about the marathon. It is good info, though.

Well, now you're just being rude! Tell us already!

You know, ever since he's gotten in trouble, I just haven't liked him that much. I do like chick flicks, just not his I guess. I know, I'm a failure...
