While we're on the subject of doing things to ourselves that are unhelpful, time-consuming and potentially costly, let me mention my latest entry into the dumb-a** hall of fame. Last month, I booked a trip for my mom and I to go to Detroit in two weeks. Upon further review just last week, I realized that I am actually going to be accompanying myself on said trip. Yes, folks, that's right, I booked two tickets on the same flight for me, myself (but not I. I guess "I" was not invited since I only accidentally bought 2 tickets in my own name instead of 3. ) I guess what happened is that when I used my Hotwire account, which has a handy drop-down menu of names from which to select the passengers, I selected myself twice. I'm such a genius. And of course, both Hotwire and the airline very generously offered to cancel my extra ticket to be used at a later date, with a friendly "estimated" $135 fee, of course. So, now I have a spare plane ticket for which I will have to pay an extra "estimated" $135 with all the extra money I have floating around. Oh goody. So now I have to tell my mother and my husband about what I have done, which should be really fun for everybody. As Jo said, "Good times."
