Cinco de Mayo

If you are not informed of this holiday, I am offering a little free education- it is what I do after all. I think once you know about it, you will want to celebrate it too. So Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May for the gringas out there) is the day Mexicans celebrate a victory over France in the 1840's. What is interesting about this is that Mexico actually eventually lost this war. But I really admire their celebratory spirit. I think we all need a bit more of this in our lives. "Yes, eventually I gained ten pounds on my diet, but let's celebrate the week I lost two pounds." I personally am all for it.

Okay, so this is a real holiday and I really apologize for being flippant and underinfomed but I actually do not know how people really celebrate this holiday, I just know what the white people in my town do. We listen to a lot of mariachi music, drink margaritas and eat a lot of chips and salsa. So I personally am throwing a little fiesta wherein we will eat a lot of fried and salty things and dip them in delicious things like guacamole and just be really happy. So thank you France for losing the battle because we pretty much all end up the winners here.

By the way, as I spell checked this post, the spell checker did not recognize margaritas or mariachi- could it be any more gringo?

Kel, this post is so genius that I don't even have a good comment. Suffice it to say that this is one of the best posts ever. Eat and drink some for me.
